My Haircare Journey

I was born with brown thin hair, and I have always struggled with the conquest of volume and a lower washing rate have for my hair.

In the recent year anyway, I have made a couple of steps towards my dream hair (if possible), so I figured out I’d share with you my routine and the products I use.

I have a oily, sometimes itchy scalp, so my first tought was to find a product that could help me to balance it. Years ago, I used to use Sansone, a hair mask from Lush, that has been now, for a long time, discontinued.

Luckily, when I went into Lush, I found something similar that turned out to be a holy grail product: Roots. This is a pre-shampoo mask, tha I usually keep on for half an our. I distribute it on my hair carefully starting from the scalp to mid lenghts, adding a bit on the ends. Then it’s super easy to it wash away, and after that I shampoo. My hair and scalp then feel fresh and puryfied, but not “cold” or dehydrated. On the pot they recomend to do it once every fifteen days, but I do it once a week because that’s work for me.

Doing this mask regularly for two-three weeks, I conquered visibly fresher and cleaner for longer hair. Rather than whashing them every other day, I’m able to wash them once every three days (with maybe a little help from dry shampoo).

The second product I want to talk about is my shampoo. As I previously mentioned in another post (How You Can Be Sustainable in Everyday Life) I pretty much only use non packaged shampoos from Lush, I find that they don’t dry my scalp out, maybe because the ingredients are more natural than other shampoos. Bonus, I love the smell !! My favouriter are Honey I Washed my Hair and Godiva (in the picture, this also act as a conditioner).

Third product is a hair oil. To be honest, I use this product less since I have discovered the next product I’m going to talk about later (AKA hyaluronic hair mask), but I still love this hair oil, the Restructuring Fluid With Millet and Wheat Germ, it’s useful to give the hair a little hydration when you don’t have time for a mask (I never use conditioner after the shampoo). This product in particular is from Bottega Verde, an italian brand. It’s not too oily, and gets the job done, but you have to be careful not to apply too much!

Last, but maybe the most mind blowing product for me (alonside the first one) is a Restorative Treatment Hair Mask with hyaluronic acid by NOAH that I randomly picked up in a shop. Before this, after the shampoo a hair mask always used to weigh my hair down, giving me an overcooked spaghetti look. This mask, instead, is different, I don’t know if it is for the hyaluronic thing, or if it’s just a placebo effect, but, this one doesn’t weigh my hair down. It gives them shine and vitality. Super happy, I’m alrealdy on the second bottle.

BONUS: I haven’t included styling products, because I’m not so good at styling, but I’m trying to get better at it. I recently tried the Bumble & Bumble thickening dryspun finish, which I think it’s supposed to be a texturizing and volumizing spray. I’m willing to try other products of this type. I will report back.
