TED TALKS DAILY – HOW TO BE YOUR BEST SELF IN TIMES OF CRISIS

This podcast features Susan David, a psychologist who shared wisdom on how to build resilience, courage and joy in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. I found it very interesting. In these uncertain times, I think it’s quite common to question ourselves, and re-evaluate many things. When the situation is difficult and confusing it’s nice to find some empathy and some relaxed advices from someone experienced. It’s good to hear someone explaining what could be going through our minds in this difficult time and how to cope with it. I found it very uplifting.

DUOLINGO – FRENCH PODCAST

Recently I have picked up again my french course on Duolingo, cause I really want to get better at it. I have previously used the Duolingo Poadcast when I was trying to learn Spanish, and found it very useful, so I went on listening the french ones. I was not disappointed, I think it is really useful to listen to a story, getting to know different (relatable) words and expressions, and learning to detect full speeches rather than phrases.

WHAT I KNOW NOW – WTF IS EMOTIONAL HYGENE?!

This poadcast episode involved an interview with Guy Winch, who is a clinical psychologist. He talks about emotional health, he has written three science based self help books. He has coined the concept of emotional hygene. Hygene is a concept we are familiar with in the physical domain, and we practice it daily. Guy says that we sustain psycological and emotional injuries and we need to practice emotional hygene on a daily basis as well, to monitor how we’re feeling emotionally how we’re addressing things as they come up. He says it’s not sometimes we often think about or we know how to do necessarily. He goes on explaining deeper the role of emotional hygene in relationships and in our life in general, and how practicing it is important.

TED TALKS DAILY – HOW TO TURN OFF WORK THOUGHTS DURING YOUR FREE TIME

Funny enough, I was on the hunt for another poadcats that I would feel interested in listening, and I came across another one featuring Guy Winch, this time on TED Talks Daily. Since I really liked the previous one, I decided to give a chance to this one as well. How can we not think about work when we are not at work ? This poadcast offers some tips on how to enjoy really you free time, switch off and not wonder about work, which could even affect sleep, and relationship.
